Biography

Abann has been working with ARCC for the past 15 years in various capacities as a community leader, board member, Chairperson and since 2014 as Chief Executive Officer. He is a community advocate, educator, and author. He is a visionary, thinking strategically with a human rights-based approach. He has worked with ethnic communities, non-governmental organisations, and government agencies over many years. Abann has completed a number of qualifications on his continued pursuit of professional development, recently completing his Master of Applied Indigenous Knowledge through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. He is a fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, a recipient of the New Zealanders Local Hero Award, and Aotearoa Resettled Community Coalition 15 Year Service Award.
