In the build-up to World Refugee Day in June 2021 ARCC shared the stories of ten of our resettled community members. They shared their accounts of when they became New Zealanders, their success, and the challenges they faced throughout their journey. You can explore these stories below. This initiative is part of a wider project, funded by the Albert-Eden Local Board, with the aim of educating wider Aotearoa New Zealand society on the lived experience of resettled community members. By sharing these stories in a creative and artistic way we hope to influence the narrative around resettled community members, strip away what should only ever have been a temporary label of refugee, and celebrate the lives of these inspirational New Zealanders.
