The University of Auckland provides academic tools and knowledge to ARCC members in the form of the capacity building training to community researchers. The ARCC research project, in collaboration with Auckland University focused on men with refugee backgrounds. Under the title of “Improving resettlement outcomes: What can we learn from men from refugee backgrounds?” aimed to understand the following:

  • The challenges men from refugee backgrounds face when settling in New Zealand
  • How men successfully negotiate these challenges
  • What support is needed for men to successfully negotiate these challenges?
  • How similarities and differences amongst refugee background men may influence the successful negotiation of the challenges they may face in resettlement.
